About us

Red Por La Ciberseguridad

Although there are great benefits to the use of technology, we find situations that can put the security of people, governments and companies at risk.

According to the study “User habits in cybersecurity in Mexico 2019” published by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, 34% of the people who participated in the study have suffered harassment through digital media, 39% publish their location on social networks and 34% have sent intimate photographs.

These situations put people's integrity at risk and, in some cases, can impact their families and closest environment.

Awareness and education on prevention issues regarding cybersecurity and information protection are essential. Some risks can affect people's assets; the same study mentions that 21% of adults surveyed have been victims of financial fraud, while 27% have had problems with identity theft.

According to the Cybersecurity Education study prepared by the Organization of American States in 2020, the cost of cybercrime in Latin America and the Caribbean ranged between 15 and 30 billion dollars in 2017. Despite this situation, it is estimated that in the region, nearly 600,000 cybersecurity professionals are required in the region. However, the industry, governments, academia and civil society have developed efforts to raise awareness among the population and companies about online risks and mitigation measures.

It is necessary to maintain a constant dissemination effort that advances at the speed of technological changes. That is why we have decided to form the “Cybersecurity Network”, a network between the private sector, public, academia and civil society in order to generate knowledge that contributes to the development of the cybersecurity ecosystem through the exchange of experiences. and the development of alliances that, consequently, improve the experience of those who use technology in their daily lives and work.
